If you have young children and you're a working parent, you know that summer can certainly present some planning challenges. There are day camps, summer programs, swim lessons and special field trips that all require careful planning with attention to details like transportation, work schedule flexibility, and affordability. Relieve any stress you may have about what to do with your kids this summer and let Parks and Recreation help you plan your kids' activities. We have plenty of solutions for some summer fun.

We already have an endless array of sports, fitness, dance, and arts activities. You'll find them all in our latest Activity Guide for spring and summer that has just been direct mailed to our customers. This year, we also have a number of summer camp opportunities that we believe will be of interest to your child. Start out by asking your kids what they really want to do with their time. Then check the Activity Guide and you'll find these summer camp options:

* Lights, Camera, Action -- Youth Theatre Camp is for campers age 7 -12.

This is a week-long camp where kids learn about the magic of theater while developing skills in cooperation, creativity and self- confidence. Kids will dance and sing their way across the stage and perform for their parents on the last day of camp.

* Magic Camp is for kids age 9 - 14 and will introduce campers to the world of illusions. This is also a week-long camp where each camper will participate in a magic show on the last day.

* Wildfire Dance Camps are one-day camps for kids age 3 - 10 who enjoy dancing. Choose from the Hip Hop Hula (age 3 - 5); Rock Star (age 6-10); and Who Let the Dogs Out?

Each of the above camps will take place at Quirk Cultural Center.

* Brand new this year is Fun, Fit & Float Camp at the Natatorium for kids age 7 -12. Parents may choose from three different week-long camps and all include fitness, swimming and fun! Campers will work out on fitness equipment like Expresso Computer Bikes, Elliptical equipment and scooters and participate in programs such as strength and balance games, Boot Camp and obstacle courses! They will also swim in the zero depth pool, play on water slides, current channel and spray features.

Summer camp opportunities fill up fast, so I encourage you to call early and register. For more information or to request our guide, contact Parks and Recreation at 330-971-8225.
