Don't strike out! -- Final baseball registration The Cuyahoga Falls Amateur Baseball Association, sponsored by the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department will have registration for the Baseball Program March 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. Late registration will be March 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Quirk Center. The baseball program is designed so that everyone who registers is placed on a team and will play in every game. Uniforms, equipment, fields, and coaches are provided. Each player must provide his glove and all-purpose shoes. Registration fees are $40 for players from ages 6 to 12 years, $45 for ages 13 and 14 and $50 for players from ages 15 to 18. Feeling lucky? -- St. Pat's annual card party Tickets are now on sale for the Annual St. Pat's Benefit Card Party at the Quirk Center. It will be March 11 at 1 p.m. The Senior Volunteers invite all who like to play cards or table games to enjoy dessert, cash raffle, quilt raffle, and an afternoon of fun and door prizes. Monies taken in that day will go to the Senior Adult Special Events sponsored by the Senior Volunteers. Tickets are $5 presale and $6 at the door and are available at the Quirk Center. The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Dance Fever Open Dance at the Quirk Center March 5 and 19. Looking for a chance to socialize with friends, meet new friends, and enjoy great music while trying out your dance moves? Then come to Friday Ballroom Dance night. Each evening starts with a dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., each night featuring a different dance. From 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. enjoy dancing to great music for Swing, Waltz, Cha Cha, Tango, Line Dances and more. Fee is $10 per person, $6 for college students and seniors with ID. Tasty and Healthy? -- A Japanese junk food class awaits you The Japanese Junk Food class is March 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. You will learn to make several Japanese snacks that are favorites among Americans. These snacks are easy, low cost, and healthy. Instructor will demonstrate drayaki, okonamiyaki, and more. Ages 16 and up. Class will be at the Quirk Center. Registration fee $2 resident/$4 nonresident with a class fee of $20 payable to instructor Sunae Putman at time of registration. For more information or to register, call 330-971-8425. Tumbling and all that jazz -- Youth dance and gymnastics For those "spirited" ones who like to move, the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department will offer a new session of Saturday dance and gymnastics classes March 13 to April 17 (no class April 3) at the Quirk Center. This five-week session costs $30 for residents and $36 for nonresidents. The following classes are being offered: Pre Ballet (ages 4-6), Tap, Tumbling and Jazz I (ages 4-6), Ballet I (ages 5-7), Tap, Tumbling and Jazz II (ages 5-7), Gymnastics I (ages 6 - 12), Gymnastics II (ages 6 - 12). Adult ballet classes -- new session The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering Adult Ballet lessons at the Quirk Center. Come join the fun, meet new people, and get some exercise. Beginners class: Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m.; Intermediate class: Tuesdays from 9 to 10:15 a.m.. These classes are designed to promote good posture, self-confidence, and grace, while teaching students how to strengthen and protect their bodies from injury. These one-hour classes will consist of traditional ballet barre, stretching exercises and mild ballet center floor combinations. All classes are four-week sessions with a new session March 2 to 23 and March 4 to 25. Fee is $8 resident/$12 nonresident, plus class fee of $20 for one class or $35 for both classes (made payable to Jean Brady). All class fees must be paid at time of in-person registration at Quirk or mailed within one week of registration. For more information call the Parks and Recreation Office at 330-971-8225. Adults -- Release your inner creativity Classes start the week of March 1 and take place at the Quirk Cultural Center. New and experienced participants will benefit from individual attention to perfecting their skill. Pottery classes are available Monday through Thursday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. New students must start with handbuilding. A class session is six weeks long. Registration fee is $60 for a resident or $75 for a non-resident. Clay is an additional cost. Ceramics will take place on Monday through Wednesday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. There are many Easter and garden items to choose from. Registration fee is $18 resident/$21 nonresident. Greenware and firing are an additional cost depending on size of item. Use of tools, most glazes, stains and instruction are included.
