Stress Free At the Library!

The Peninsula Library will have an open house with the Gatehouse Connection Holistic Center on  March 6, 1-4 p.m. at 6105 Riverview Rd, Peninsula. The newly founded Gatehouse Connection Holistic Center is a place where one can experience relaxation therapies, expand their self-awareness and learn ways to maintain wellness in their lives. On March 6, join founding members Sharon Collins, Sarah Lahoski, Colleen Bell Wiley and Shelby Lynn for an open house at the library. They will provide information and samples of holistic services such as Reiki, Polarity, Reflexology, CranioSacral, Crystal Therapy and Quantum Touch. Civil War group meets March 2

The General A. C. Voris Camp, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, will meet at 7 p.m. March 2 at the Stow Library. The speaker for the evening will be Tom Vince, who is presently the archivist and historian of the Western Reserve Academy in Hudson. Vince has a long list of honors and activities in local communities. He has been recently named as Citizen of the Year (2009) by the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Vince will be speaking on Lincoln and His Secretaries: Hay and Nicolay. The meeting is open to the general public at no cost.

Church Women United to observe World Day of Prayer on March 5

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of women of many faith traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. Throughout the day, the group collectively prays all over the world, beginning with the first sunrise and ending at the last sunset.

The first nationally organized World Day of Prayer was conducted in 1920. The 2010 World Day of Prayer will be celebrated March 5 with the theme of "Let Everything That Has Breath Praise God" and a program written by the women of Cameroon Africa.

Church Women United of the Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Stow and Munroe Falls area will host the event at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Ext. The program will start at 10 a.m. and all are invited to attend.

Chronic Pain group meets March 2

The Chronic Pain support group will have Dr. Robert Geiger representing Summit Pain at its regular meeting March 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Auditorium #1 at Summa Western Reserve Hospital (formerly Falls General Hospital), 1900 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls. He will answer questions that anyone may have on the upcoming move that Summit Pain is planning. The doctors presently staffing Summit Pain at the hospital are moving. The pain management offices at the hospital will remain in operation and pain management services will continue uninterrupted. Attendees do not have to belong to the group to attend. Anyone who is a Summit Pain patient is welcome to come and ask questions about their future health care in connection with the planned move. The last meeting was canceled due to the weather so Rick Hohan, director of Ambulatory Services at Summa, has been rescheduled for March 16.

Investors' group meets March 2

The American Association of Individual Investors meets at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, Main Library Building, 60 S. High St. on the first Tuesday of each month. Parking is free after 6 p.m. The meeting at 6:30 p.m. on March 2 in Room 2AB is open to the public. No membership is required.

John W. Goodell, PhD, Assistant Professor of Finance, The University of Akron, will show why attendees might want to consider the presidential election cycle when buying or selling stocks.

Northampton Hill and Vale Garden Club meets March 4

All ladies are welcome to attend the meeting of the Northampton Hill and Vale Garden Club on March 4 at noon in the Olde Town Hall, 851 W. Bath Road.

Hostesses of the day will be: Carrie Brillhart, Suzanne Brillhart, and Delphia Lowe. They will provide dessert for the attendees. Each attendee should bring her own lunch and a $3 fee. The craft for the day will be the making of spring table favors for a local nursing home. The April 1 meeting will be a plant sale, with plants being provided by the members.

The Cuyahoga Falls Mothers of Twins Club will meet at 7 p.m. March 4 at Grandview United Methodist Church, 2315 Phelps Ave.

This month the club is having a presentation about love and logic.

Support group for parents meets March 9

Zane's Foundation Support Group meetings provide an opportunity for parents, professionals and paraprofessionals to gather for support, discussion, education and networking.

The group meets at Journey Covenant Church, 2679 North Haven Blvd.

The next meeting will take place March 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Karen Majeski, State Support Team 8 Director, will answer visitors' questions about their child's Individualized Education Plan.

U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps hosts fundraiser Feb. 28

The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Akron Battalion, is hosting a scotch-doubles bowling tournament fundraiser on Feb. 28 at North Lanes (Legend Lanes) at 4190 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Tickets: $40 per team (two people) -- team sales only. Ticket price includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and pop. Desserts available for sale by the Sea Cadets. The event will offer 50/50s, raffles, and a lot of fun.

Stow MOMS Club to offer fingerprinting for children

Stow MOMS Club will offer GASP Child Fingerprinting/ID Service at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library on March 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the meeting room on the second floor.

This event is open to the public. GASP (Guardians Against Sexual Predators) is an organization that provides trained volunteers to deliver programs for child safety and protection. As part of GASP's Child ID Services, parents will take home a disk containing each child's fingerprints, photos, video/voice recording and full description of the child. Come prepared with the weight and height of each child. Although there is no charge for this service, donations will be accepted on the day of the event. Sjögren's Syndrome support group meets March 5

The Akron Area Sjögren's Syndrome support group meeting will take place March 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St., on the lower level in the Sutliff Room.

The guest speaker is Nikita Hegde, MD, (with Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates in Cuyahoga Falls), who will answer questions about Sjögren's.
