RPC Photo / Steve Wiandt St. Joseph School students display blankets they made and toys they collected as part of the Have a Heart campaign to benefit patients at Akron Children's Hospital. The largest part of the campaign, however, was the change they raised through read-a-thons, bake sales and collections taken up during basketball games. Deneen Watson, campaign organizer and eighth-grade teacher, said the students collected a total of $3,707. "That's quite a lot for a school of only 333 students," she said. Watson started Have a Heart in 2006 after her son Brock was a patient at Akron Children's Hospital. Brock, 10, is in fourth grade at St. Joe's. Comments
