Another school levy? Has this community gone insane? My property tax is half school levy taxes now. No wonder we have so many empty homes. If you are a senior, as I am, you can barely afford to live in Cuyahoga Falls. With the economy in the sewer and jobs non-existent, where are more tax dollars going to come from?
Young families and renters in most cases don't know what their property taxes are. Most home loans roll taxes into the payments and I think renters really don't care. They must realize taxes impact the amount of rent they are charged. Yet I believe these are the households who have the children and keep voting for levies.
I want our children to have a great education just like everyone else does, but I don't want to have to move from my home or stop my medication to make it happen. Somewhere there must be an end to this. I graduated from Falls High (when it was that little building now in the middle), went to college and raised my children. I didn't have A/C, carpet and so many other extras.
I don't believe every time a new school official is hired they need new office furniture, which I understand happens in Falls schools. Why can't today's educators use some of the desks, chairs and other furniture that are stored away because the last guy needed new furniture? What happened to paint the walls and clean the carpet?
Do I sound angry and frustrated? I am. I worked hard all my life so when the time came, I could retire with some dignity and enjoy life and this community is taking that away from me one levy at a time. A good number of us in this community are older adults. When are you going to pass a levy for us?
