RALPH E. (SONNY) HOLTON

Korean War veteran

Ralph E. (Sonny) Holton, 79, died unexpectedly at his home in Cuyahoga Falls on Jan. 3, 2010. Mr. Holton was born in Conway, Pa. on June 11, 1930. He served as a Marine and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Holton's work attracted him and his wife, Patricia, to Cuyahoga Falls where they have been residents for the past 46 years. Mr. Holton retired from Alside Inc. in 1992.

Mr. Holton will be remembered for his volunteerism and his love of dancing, but most importantly for his devotion to his family and church. He enjoyed his volunteer work at E.J. Thomas events. He also loved to dance and was an active member of Ohio's North Coast Jitter Bug Connection. Family, however, was Mr. Holton's priority. He was a Knight of Columbus and an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Mr. Holton is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia, and three children; Sandra and her husband David Schario, Ralph (Rick), and Robert and his wife Carol; brother, Earl B. "Scotch" Holton; sisters, Marion Mielke and Betty Ann "Liz" Dzubak. Mr. Holton has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Holton was preceded in death by his daughter Joyce Ann Holton in 1983. The Knights of Columbus Council #13517 recited the rosary at the Ciriello and Carr Cuyahoga Falls Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Private inurnment took place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
