RAYMOND H. DROWN

World War II veteran

Raymond H. Drown, 83, of Cuyahoga Falls, died unexpectedly on Jan. 1, 2010 at Akron City Hospital.

Born in Rittman, on May 10, 1926 to the late George and Velma Drown, Mr. Drown had been a lifetime area resident. He was a graduate of Akron Hower High School. Mr. Drown served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard a minesweeper during World War II. He retired in 1989 from Akron Standard, where he worked for more than 38 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Drown was preceded in death by his sisters Grace and Rosie. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia of Cuyahoga Falls; sons William (Linda) Drown of Akron, Richard (Mary) Drown of Hudson, and James Drown of Cuyahoga Falls; brother Rollin Drown of Cuyahoga Falls and sister Marcine Krumeich of Akron; grandchildren Kristin (Todd) Castilow, Brandie Drown, and Laura and Amy Drown; great-grandaughter Carissa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services took place at the Anthony Funeral Home's McGowan-Reid and Santos Chapel. A private interment took place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.

McGowan-Reid and Santos Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
