ADRIAN AARON TRACHSEL

World War II veteran

Adrian Aaron Trachsel died at home surrounded by his family on Dec. 29, 2009.

Born in New Philadelphia on May 11, 1918, Mr. Trachsel lived most of his life in Cuyahoga Falls, although he most fondly remembered his farming roots in Tuscarawas County.

During World War II, Adrian served in the Seventh Army in Germany, France, and England. A graduate of Kent State University, he was the second of four generations of educators. He taught most of his career in the Twinsburg Schools where he was most devoted to his students and the young men he coached. His students always came first with him. After his retirement, he enjoyed working for 20 years at the old Front Nine Golf Course.

Mr. Trachsel was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Laura Jeanne. He is survived by his children, Kathy (Ray) McDonnell, who had been his caregiver; Cindy (Jon) Held, and Michael (Sandy) Trachsel. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Mark Mendoza, Andrew Held, Kathryn Held, Stephen Trachsel, and Emily Shrader. In addition, he is survived by six great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Dorie McDowell, sister-in-law, Lou Trachsel, and many nieces and nephews. He cherished his dearest friends, Ray and Susan Long. He also leaves behind his most devoted companion, Buddy.

He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

A celebration of his love and life took place at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. Burial took place at Northlawn Cemetery. Instead of flowers, donations could be made to One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1699 West Market Street, Akron 44313.

Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
