Cuyahoga Falls -- A 29-year-old city man was arrested on Jan. 7 and charged with theft and misuse of a credit card after reports were filed by his sister and father that day. His younger sister told police he stole her video game system on Jan. 3 at 8 a.m. and sold it to a resale shop for $350. His father reported his son took his gas credit card between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 6 and used it to receive a cash reimbursement totaling $150 without his knowledge. The man pleaded guilty to both charges in Stow Municipal Court on Jan. 8 and was sentenced by Judge Lisa L. Coates to serve 180 days in jail and pay $802 in fines and costs. Theft Jan. 10 -- Meds missing. A resident of the 1000 block of Howe Avenue reported someone entered her apartment between Dec. 31 and Jan. 10 and stole 30 Vicodin tablets. Her loss was $6, the report said. Burglary Jan. 9 -- Restaurant robbed. The owner of a restaurant in the 2400 block of State Road reported someone entered his business some time the night before and stole $800 in cash, security equipment, a .22 caliber handgun, and a jar of monetary donations to the American Cancer Society. The total loss was $1,600 excluding damage to a window that was broken. Criminal damaging Jan. 7 -- Mailbox damaged --A resident of the 2100 block of Deepwood Drive reported his 17-year-old daughter's ex-boyfriend drove over his mailbox and left the scene. Estimated loss was $89. Jan. 7 -- Library targeted. The director of the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St., reported someone shot a window on the Broad Boulevard side, possibly with a BB gun, causing $2,300 damage. Jan. 6 -- Placard pilfered. A Streetsboro resident reported a man she knows removed a Fraternal Order of Police placard from the rear of her car and scratched the car's paint in the process between 6 and 9 p.m. while it was parked in the parking lot of a technical school on Bailey Road. Estimated damage was $250. Drug charges Jan. 7 -- Suspected drugs. A 51-year-old Peninsula man was arrested at 12:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Charlene Drive and charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia after officers found traces of suspected cocaine and a rolled-up $10 bill containing suspected cocaine residue in his sport utility vehicle. Jan. 6 -- Teen arrested. A 16-year-old city boy was arrested and charged with juvenile drug abuse after his mother reported finding in his dresser at 1 a.m. a rock-like powder that police believed was a controlled substance. Disorderly conduct, drug abuse Jan. 5 -- Found in snow drunk. A 25-year-old Akron man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication and drug abuse after he was found intoxicated and sleeping in a snow bank at Sackett Avenue and State Road around at 7:10 p.m. A passer-by had called police at 7:04 p.m. when he saw the man fall into the street. Police found him in possession of suspected marijuana. The man was transported by EMS to Summa Western Reserve Hospital due to his intoxicated state, the report said. Accidents Jan. 8 -- Winter crash. A 24-year-old Falls man was cited for failure to control after he lost control of the sport utility vehicle he was driving on Buckingham Gate Boulevard at 8:21 a.m. due to the snow-covered road, the report said, and struck a pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old Rootstown man. There were no injuries. Jan. 7 -- Injury accident. A 47-year-old Silver Lake man was cited for failure to control after an accident at 6:53 p.m. that sent one person to the hospital. The man was traveling south on state Route 8 near Second Street in the left lane when he lost control, sliding left and then veering right into the center lane, striking a sport utility vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Akron woman. The impact caused the SUV to slide to the right and hit the wall. A 63-year-old Akron woman riding in the SUV was transported to Akron City Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries, the report said.
