United Presbyterian Church On Dec. 27, guest speaker Kristin Stroble will conduct the services that morning. Miss Stroble is a member of the congregation currently studying for ministry with the Presbyterian Church (USA) at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. The traditional service starts at 8:30 a.m. and the New Creation contemporary service starts at 11 a.m. The educational hour, including "Amazement Park" for elementary school-age children, is from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Child care for babies and toddlers is available throughout the Sunday morning activities. Parking is available on church property. All are welcome. U.P.C. is participating in an inter-church bowling league at Tallmadge Lanes, Monday evenings, beginning at 6:45 p.m. PrayerLab will meet Dec. 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. PrayerLab is ministry that focuses in on participants' prayer needs and helps participants grow in effective prayer. First United Methodist Church The church will have one worship service Dec. 27. On Dec. 28, youth in grades 7-12 are invited to an evening at Laser Quest. Those interested in going should meet at the church at 245 Portage Trail at 5:30 p.m. to travel via the church bus to Laser Quest. The bus will return to the church at 8 p.m. The cost is $14 to cover two games. A permission slip is a must and can be obtained through the church Web site, firstchurchcf.com. Like games? First Church is having a game night Dec. 30 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and all are invited. Bring a favorite board game to enjoy. The church will have various video game consoles available. Bring a snack to share, beverages till be provided. Enjoy fun for folks of every age. Bethany United Church of Christ The next Youth Fellowship Donato's Night is Dec. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. Join the congregation for fun, food and fellowship at the State Road location. The first Sunday of each month, Bethany's volunteer nurses offer blood pressure tests during social hour. Anyone who is interested in having their blood pressure checked look for them at this time. On Jan. 3, 2010, is Epiphany Sunday and the church will celebrate communion at both worship services. Prayer shawls are a means to extend the church's love and prayers to persons who may be homebound, ill or perhaps be a way to share a special joy such as a birth or birthday milestone. Bethany's Prayer Shawl group meets the second Monday of each month. If you are interested in this ministry join them at 9:30 a.m. in the lounge. Bethany United Church of Christ is located at 1235 Broad Blvd. Journey Covenant Church The church serves a free, hot dinner (Christ Kitchen Dinner) to local residents on the last Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m. Christ Kitchen Dinners are open to the public. Northminster Presbyterian Church Northminster Presbyterian Church is located at 104 W. Portage Trail Extension. The Pioneer Club, the church's non-denominational youth club for ages 4 through seventh grade, will begin meeting again in the new year, on Jan. 28, 2010. The Northminster Craft Guild will resume their regular meetings in 2010, on the third Wednesday and third Saturday of each month. January's meetings will be on Jan. 16 and Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church lounge. Bailey Road Christian Church Fall to Spring hours run through May: 9:30 a.m., Sunday School for all ages; 10:45 a.m., worship service; 7 p.m., Praise Service. Nursery care provided during these services for ages infant through 3 years of age. First and third Tuesday: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Happy Hands, crafts and sewing. Fourth Tuesday of each month: 7 p.m., Christian Women's Fellowship business/book study: "Behold Your God." Wednesdays: 12:30 p.m., chair dancing, a seated exercise program; 6:30 p.m., hand chimes practice; 7:30 p.m., choir practice. Thursdays: 7 p.m., Praise Team practice. On the first Friday of the month at 10 a.m. is the Feed My Sheep program. Members of the church volunteer to serve lunch at Redeemer Methodist Church. First Congregational Church in Tallmadge First Congregational Church will offer a service at 10 a.m. Dec. 27 featuring a Festival of Carols. Participants will sing and learn the stories behind many beloved carols. There will be no Sunday school or Living Waters service Dec. 27. The First Congregational Church Cub Pack 3361 brought in toys for the Marine Corp Toys for Tots program. The 26 boys and their families brought in 80 toys to share with other children in Summit County. The Marines who came and joined the evening activities were SSgt Carl Nelson and Sgt Ken Freeman.
