by Phil Keren Editor Although Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Robart ended up alone on this year's ballot in the race for the city's top office, his fundraising over the summer indicates he was preparing himself for a contested race. Robart will begin his seventh term in office on Jan. 1. He received 9,815 votes on Nov. 3, according to final, but unofficial results from the Summit County Board of Elections. Candidates who spent more than $1,000 or received more than $1,000 up through Oct. 14 were required to file a pre-general finance report. In its latest report filed with the Summit County Board of Elections, The Robart For Mayor committee brought forward $36,282.60 from the last report. The committee reported $23,275.01 in monetary contributions and $20,853.09 in expenditures, leaving an available balance of $38,704.32. The committee also lists $23,863.52 in outstanding loans that the committee owes. The committee only received one contribution during the most recent reporting period: $1,500 from the Barnhart for Council committee. The report also lists $21,775.01 in monetary contributions that the committee received from a golf fundraising event Aug. 7. The top contribution was a $750 check from Steven R. Benza of Broadview Heights. A $675 donation came from Kevin M. Reaman of Cuyahoga Falls. A donation of $650 each came from: Cheryl Lynn Hunt of Deland, Fla., Frank J. Bronza of Cuyahoga Falls, Robert A. Saffian of Akron, Steve Albrecht of Akron, Joseph F. Gibbons Jr. of Cleveland, Morgan Blavatt of Florence, Ky., Mark R. Havens of Twinsburg, and Arcadis FPS P.A.C. Ohio Comm Reg No. CP 1193 of Akron. The committee's top expenditures from the August golf outing were $4,930.20 in golf fees paid to the city of Cuyahoga Falls and $3,271.98 for golf catering paid to the Red Letter Events Group. Other top expenditures were: $1,500 donated to Barnhart for Council, $1,500 given to the Jeff Iula for Council-at-large committee, $1,010.44 donated to the Committee to Elect Marianne Sandy and $1,000 donated to Friends of Jeff Iula.
