Stow woman, 19, cited after early morning crash

Cuyahoga Falls -- A 19-year-old Stow woman was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign after a crash at Pierce Avenue and Elmwood Street at 7:40 a.m. Oct. 21. The driver of the other car, a 43-year-old Falls woman, and her passenger, a 15-year-old girl, were transported to Summa Western Reserve Hospital with possible injuries.

The Stow woman had possible injuries but was not transported.

The Falls car was traveling south on Elmwood Street approaching Pierce Avenue, according to the report, and the Stow car was westbound on Pierce, stopped at the stop sign at Elmwood.

As the Stow car started pulling out, the Falls car entered the intersection. Due to parked vehicles, the Stow car's driver did not see the Falls car until it was too late to avoid a collision.

Burglary

Oct. 25 -- Back door broken. A Mogadore woman reported someone broke the back door on her sister's house in the 2100 block of 13th Street between 7 p.m. Oct. 22 and 9 p.m. Oct. 25.

There were pry marks to the dead bolt on the door, but nothing was stolen.

Sexual imposition

Oct. 23 -- Daughter accosted. A woman reported a 12-year-old boy grabbed her 11-year-old daughter on various parts of her body including private areas on Oct. 21 around 1 p.m. while they were at school.

Illegal dumping

Oct. 20 -- Roofing debris found. A city employee reported someone dumped a load of roofing shingles and related trash in the parking lot of Water Works Park, 2025 Munroe Falls Ave., between 10 a.m. Oct. 16 and 11 a.m. Oct. 20.

Theft

Oct. 21 -- Surf and turf. An employee of a grocery store on Graham Road reported a man took approximately $190 worth of steak and shrimp and left without paying shortly after 5 p.m.

Burglary

Oct. 21 -- Out of range. A resident of the 700 block of Alameda Avenue reported someone entered his home by unknown means between 3 p.m. Oct. 18 and 6 p.m. Oct. 19 and stole a stove worth $250 and approximately 100 feet worth of copper pipe. There was no evidence of forced entry. Police have suspects.

Assault

Oct. 21 -- Altercation turns physical. An Akron woman reported that while she was involved in a verbal dispute in the 200 block of Portage Trail with someone she knows at 1:30 p.m., that person forcefully closed a car door on her leg.

Village of Silver Lake

Oct. 21 -- Loose dog. A Silver Lake Police Officer said he exited his car at Silver Lake Elementary School when he was approached by a black labrador retriever shortly before 2 p.m. As the officer walked away from his patrol car, he put out his left hand, and the dog tried to bite his hand, according to the report. There was a class of children playing on the playground at the time. The officer asked school officials to take the children inside the building, while the officer waited for the arrival of an animal control official. The dog's owner then arrived to pick up the dog. The animal had gotten loose from a fenced-in yard.
