Locals compete in bench press competition More than 70 men and women entered Max Muscle's second annual Bench Press Contest June 6 at Cuyahoga Falls High School gymnasium. Justin Trotta of Cuyahoga Falls won the 30-39 age division and took the overall champion by lifting 470 pounds. Other division winners were: Michael McNealis (50-plus), Ron Hardy (40-49), Joe Campbell (20-29), Marcus Hardy (teen) and Deb Roberson (women). Dan Clayton, Summa Health & Wellness trainer and co-promoter for the event, declared the bench press contest a huge success. "We almost doubled the number of sign-ups from our last event and thanks to Cuyahoga Falls High School, we were able to accommodate over 100 spectators," Clayton said. During intermission, the audience was treated to a demonstration by Zahand's Martial Arts and a "knuckle" push-up contest. Max Muscle Sports Nutrition provided custom designed T-shirts and trophies for the competitors. Fitness 19 donated the benches and provided free fitness passes. Steve Kariotis of Max Muscle said that approximately $150 was donated to the Cuyahoga Falls Athletic Department.
