MARGARET MARY BROWN Active community member, devoted Catholic Margaret Mary Brown (nee Lucas), 90, died May 19, 2009. She was born in Donora, Pa. on June 27, 1918 to John and Mary Lucas. Her family moved to Canton, then Akron, Ohio when she was a young girl. She graduated from Garfield High School. Mrs. Brown attended Secretarial Business School at the University of Akron and worked as a secretary for Goodyear for many years, taking some time away to raise her family, and finally retiring from Goodyear in 1980 as a patent assistant in the legal department. Mrs. Brown was active in many groups throughout her life, including the Cuyahoga Falls Mother of Twins club, Boy and Girl Scouts, Strollers Hiking club, and the Cuyahoga Falls Travel Club. She and her husband loved to travel and camp, taking the children on many trips that provided cherished memories. She loved sports and was a fan of all the local sports teams on every level and especially loved going to Ohio State Football games. Mrs. Brown was a crafter and an excellent sewer, using her talent to make handmade gifts for family and friends and to make baptismal bibs for the babies of St. Joseph's Church in Cuyahoga Falls. She volunteered in the sewing room at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital for many years in her retirement. Mrs. Brown was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Church in Akron in her youth and then a member of St. Joseph's Church for 50 years. She donated and enjoyed her time as a member of the parishes' Altar and Rosary Society and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Group. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by husband, Albert Brown Sr., son Donald Brown, and brothers; John Lucas, George Lucas, and Michael Lucas, sister-in-law Alice (Brown) Castelline, and nephew George Lucas. She is survived by her sons; Albert and Hillary (Rosen) Brown, Jr., David and Chrysa (Vernis) Brown, daughter Alice (Tony) Balasco, sister-in-law Elizabeth (Brown) Audette, grandchildren; Matthew, Andrea and Cara Balasco, Kelsey and Holly Brown, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Calling hours were at the Ciriello and Carr Falls Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Michael Cemetery in Mogadore.
