The Summit Choral Society will sponsor a Summer Vocal Camp, geared towards children who love to sing and who are finishing first through eighth grades. The camp will be Monday through Friday from June 16 through 20, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day at Coventry High School, at 3089 Manchester Road, near Portage Lakes. This year's theme, "A Choral Menagerie," is all about animals. Singers will learn about music and animals, and music about animals, from countries and cultures all over the world. The week will culminate with a special "Summer Choral Festival" concert June 20, at 7 p.m. at the former Central-Hower High School auditorium (near the campus of The University of Akron). Registration for the week is $195, which includes lunch every day and a souvenir T-shirt. Before and after care are available for a nominal charge. To register, call the Summit Choral Society office at 330-434-SING (7464). Registration deadline is June 1. For details about Summer Vocal Camp or to purchase tickets for the "Summer Choral Festival" concert, log on to www.summitchoralsociety.org. Comments
