A three-week continuance was granted for the pretrial of a Falls man charged with the murder of his infant son in March.

Craig R. Wilson, 28, appeared for a pretrial hearing May 7 before Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Mary Spicer. His attorney, Jon Sinn, requested a continuance until May 28 so he and prosecutors can review the autopsy report, which as yet has not been released.

A complete report is expected in a couple of weeks, a spokesman for the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said.

Wilson remains in Summit County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond. Wilson was arrested March 13 and charged with felonious assault and child endangering after his 2 1/2-month-old son Camryn Wilson was admitted to Akron Children's Hospital for head and body injuries.

The baby died March 25 after being taken off life support that day. Wilson pleaded not guilty to murder when he was arraigned in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court the following day.

A Cuyahoga Falls police report filed March 26 stated Wilson shook his infant son "causing injuries that resulted in Camryn's death." The baby was in Wilson's care March 13 in the family home.

"We're waiting on the autopsy protocol," Sinn told the Falls News-Press May 7. "We need the report from the coroner before [Summit County] prosecutors and I can negotiate a plea with respect to determining an appropriate sentence." Sinn said neither side can make informed decisions without a full medical report on the baby's injuries.

Sinn said it is up to prosecutors to decide whether the case goes to trial. He said Wilson did not plan to harm his child.

"This is a case of an overwhelmed young father who made a choice he has to live with for the rest of his life," said Sinn.
