Cuyahoga Falls -- Eyeing better traffic in and out of the district's bus garage on Vincent Street, the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education May 7 authorized the school district to purchase property at 2813 and 2819 Second St.

The purchase price of each parcel is $85,000.

Superintendent Dr. Edwin S. Holland made the offers to buy the land on behalf of the school district. The land will be used for expanding the bus garage. According to Treasurer Kathryn Sines, money from the 2005 sale of the Bode building to the Summit County Educational Service Center was placed in the district's Permanent Improvement Fund; that revenue will fund the property acquisitions.

When the expansion is finished, there will be an improved flow of bus traffic in and out using Vincent and Second streets, the district's superintendent, Dr. Edwin S. Holland, has said.

The Board also approved paying each property owner $1,500 to assist with relocation expenses. The district will pay all closing costs associated with the title transfer. Closing is scheduled for May 15.

At its April 16 meeting, the School Board unanimously approved paying $85,000 to Harold F. Jr. and Karen A. Baer for property at 2823 Second St. and $85,000 to John and Norma Dapp for property at 2821 Second St.
