The host Cuyahoga Falls girls track and field team got its first Northeast Ohio Conference River Division victory of the season with an 87-50 victory over Brush Aril 30. Several Lady Black Tigers won two events. They are Katy Roth in the shot put (31 feet, 3.5 inches) and the discus (100-8); Jaimee Post in the 100-meter hurdles (17.6 seconds) and 300 hurdles (49.9); Chrissy Zimmermann in the 400 (1:01.3) and the 800 (2:33); and Minch in the 800 relay (1:55.1) and the 200 (27.5). Joining Minch on the winning 800 relay were Timmyra Morrow, Hannah King and Alex Taylor. The other win for Falls came from Danielle Starcher in the 3,200 (14:03). Also scoring for the Lady Black Tigers were: * High jump: Post, second, 4-6 * 100: Morrow, third, 13.7 * 200: Morrow, second, 28.1 * 3,200: Anna Marconi, second, 15:31; and Mandy Fehr, third The win was satisfying for Falls, which has been missing some key performers because of injuries. This list includes distance runners Lindsay Marion and Mackenzie Hendrock, along with some others. "Our sprinters held up their end of the deal," said Lady Black Tigers head coach Dan Scourfield. "Jamiee had a really nice night and we swept the 2-mile, which was very important to us." Falls finished 11th with 17 points at the 23-team Poland Invitational April 26. Twinsburg won the competition with 98 points and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (87) and Reynoldsburg (83) finished second and third, respectively. The following Lady Black Tigers placed in their events: * 3,200: Zimmermann, fifth, 12:00.23 * 800: Zimmermann, third, 2:24 * High jump: Arielle Akel, tied for second, 5-2 "Arielle had a great attempt at 5-4," Scourfield said. "She would have cleared it if she would have been a little quicker with her feet. "Chrissy had a really good day," he added. "Everybody ran really well. It was a good experience." Falls was scheduled to compete in the Marlington Relays May 2 and the Optimist Meet May 3 in Austintown. Results of those competitions were not available at press time. The Lady Black Tigers are set to visit River Division foe Twinsburg May 7 at before heading to the Green Relays May 9.
