The host Cuyahoga Falls boys track and field team lost a 69-67 decision to Northeast Ohio Conference River Division rival Brush April 30.

The Black Tigers won the following events:

* High jump: Masam Mousavi, personal-best 5 feet, 10 inches

* 3,200-meter relay: Billy Charles, Corbin Young, Bryce Pulley and Nate Slaughter, 8 minutes, 47.4 seconds

* 100: Tad Stone, season-best 11.1

* 1,600: Eddie Campbell, 4:48.5

* 400 relay: season-best 43.1

* 800: Slaughter, 2:04.2

* 3,200: Charles, 10:58.4

Capturing second place for Falls include the following:

* Shot put: David Ball, 44-1.5

* Long jump: Sergio Machado, 17-6.75

* 400: Pulley, 54.3

* 1,600: Goubeaux, 4:52.3

* 800: Baxter, 2:11.5

"It was a very competitive meet," said Black Tigers head coach Rick Lieberman. "We had some good performances. Masam can go higher in the high jump. He's getting his technique down."

The Black Tigers finished fourth with 45 points at the 21-team Poland Invitational April 26.

Reynoldsburg won the competition with 126 points and Twinsburg (70) and Youngstown Boardman (67) finished second and third, respectively.

Rob Jones set a meet record with a time of 38.21 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. He also won the 110 hurdles (14.57).

Others who placed for Falls include the following:

* 3,200 relay: Pulley, Slaughter, Campbell and Joe Goubeaux placed third (8:24.1).

* 3,200: Mike Baxter, fourth, 10:10.43

* 1,600: Slaughter, first, 4:29.56; and Baxter, third, 4:46.55

* 800: Pulley, eighth, 2:06.84

"We were very pleased with our finish," Lieberman said. "We felt all along that we could be a good invitational team."

The Black Tigers were scheduled to compete in the Optimist Meet May 3 in Austintown. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to visit River Division rival Twinsburg May 7 at 4 p.m.
