CARL J. SIMONE World War II veteran Carl J. Simone, 87, died March 27, 2008. Mr. Simone was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls for 53 years. He retired in 1984 from Portage Machine Shop with 42 years service as a machinist, foreman and estimator. He was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church where he counted offering for many years. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U. S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Haven as a Pharmacist's mate 1/C. He enjoyed golfing and bowling with the Portage Machine Leagues and loved Wahoos Square dancing and camping. Mr. Simone is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene M; sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Judy of Mogadore, Dan and Sherry of Florida, Rick and Janet of Kent and Bob and Pam of Akron; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Calling hours were at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Eugene's Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls 44221. Comments
