Surprise Mom or Grandma! Youth Mother's Day gift class available Ages 9 and up can sign up for a class May 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center and create a surprise for mom or grandma. Participants need to bring two pictures of themselves for this gift. Registration fee is $2 resident/$3 nonresident. Class fee of $12 payable to instructor Mitzi Stanley for class and supplies. Health screenings available at Quirk Cultural Center A series of available health screenings will take place at the Quirk Cultural Center on May 8. The screenings available are Stroke, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Peripheral Arterial Disease and Osteoporosis. These have proven valuable in detecting unrecognized problems in individuals who may not be able to have these done under insurance policies on a preventative measure and be done in less than an hour. Cost is $45 each or $129 for all four screenings. Informational fliers are available at the Quirk Cultural Center or the Natatorium, which explains each test. Pre-registration is required by calling 1-800-324-1851. Come and create a Mom's Keepsake Box Create a project that keeps on living and your mom will be excited as it is in a box all ready to water and grow. It is also great for a grandmother, sister, aunt or anyone who likes plants. Class is scheduled for May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center. Registration fee is $2 resident/$4 nonresident with a class fee of $20 payable to the instructor, Tami Custer, which includes all supplies and materials. Parent and Tot Movement Class The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Parent and Tot Movement class at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. Dress in comfortable attire. Parent participation is required. For adults with children age 2 to 4. All classes are four-week sessions with a new session beginning May 6 to May 27 from 10:30 to11:15 a.m. Fee (for parent and one child) is $8 resident/$12 nonresident, plus class fee of $20 (made payable to Jean Brady). All class fees must be paid at time of in-person registration at Quirk Cultural Center or mailed within one week of registration. Adult ballet class --
The parks and recreation department is offering Adult Ballet lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. This class is designed to promote good posture, self-confidence, and grace, while teaching students how to strengthen and protect their bodies from injury. This one-hour class will consist of traditional ballet barre, stretching exercises and mild ballet center floor combinations. All classes are four-week sessions with a new session May 6 to May 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. Fee is $8 resident/$12 nonresident, plus class fee of $20 (made payable to Jean Brady). All class fees must be paid at time of in-person registration at Quirk or mailed within one week of registration. Take Mom to the Prom! Moms and sons are invited to celebrate Mother's Day in style on May 10, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center. The evening includes a pirate theme, dinner, dancing, a keepsake photograph and more. Shirts and ties are recommended. Boys must be 4 years old and above. Seating is on a first come basis beginning at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to sit together should arrive together. All reservations must be made in advance and began April 26 for residents and will begin May 3 for nonresidents. Cost per person: residents $10, nonresidents $12.
