LOENA M. (LOYER) MATYAS

Great-grandmother of five

Loena M. (Loyer) Matyas of Cuyahoga Falls and formerly of Warren and Cortland, died on March 7, 2008.

She was born Jan. 5, 1919 in Ironton, the daughter of Samuel and Alice (Davisson) Loyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, who died in 2005; her brothers Ray and Earl Loyer, and her sister Matilda Loyer.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Cal) King of Cuyahoga Falls; granddaughters, Evelyn (Kevin) Metcalf of Cornelius, N.C., and Rachel (Rod) Eldred of Conneaut; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Zachary Rhodes; and Sidney, Reeve, and Liam Metcalf.

Mrs. Matyas loved taking annual fishing trips to Canada, working crossword puzzles, reading books -- and lately talking books -- and watching the Tribe play on television. She lived with her daughter Patricia for the last three years.

A memorial service was conducted at McFarland and Son Funeral Home in Warren, with Mrs. Matyas' son-in-law, the Rev. Calvin King, officiating. Interment of her urn followed at Pineview Memorial Park. Material contributions may be made to the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St., Cuyahoga Falls 44221 in the name of Loena M. Matyas.

McFarland and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
