Kevin Coughlin is not running for chairman of the Summit County Republican Party. Carol Klinger, my good friend and long-serving Cuyahoga Falls City Council representative, is.

Carol Klinger has a master's degree in business administration and is a CPA. She has more than 25 years experience working in the financial departments of national and international corporations. She has admirably served as Cuyahoga Falls City Councilwoman for 14 years. She is actively involved in her church and service organizations in the community. She has accomplished all this while maintaining a solid marriage and raising two outstanding daughters.

Carol is a hard-working, honest person who can end what I see as the financial mismanagement of our party, recruit qualified candidates and get Republicans in Summit County winning again. Most importantly, she will bring dignity to the Summit County Republican Party.

For a letter writer ( "Offers thoughts on Republicans' battle," Cuyahoga Falls News-Press, April 6) to suggest that the party organization would be controlled by Kevin Coughlin or the Democrats is insulting to Carol Klinger and her stellar qualifications.

As a member of the Summit County Republican Central Committee, I urge members of the committee to make an informed choice in electing the chairperson who will take our party into the future.
