Sheriff Drew Alexander warns Summit County residents that his office has received reports of a telephone solicitation scam where callers ask residents to donate money to help fight crime and illegal drug trafficking.

The Summit County Sheriff's office never solicits by telephone, Alexander said.

Anyone who receives such a call should try to get a phone number or address from the person calling, Alexander said. Then report the call to the Summit County Sheriff's Office detective bureau at 330-643-2131.
