Akron woman charged for alleged theft from employer

An employee of a Cuyahoga Falls business was arrested March 14 for allegedly stealing from her employer.

A loss prevention officer for the jewelry store told police the woman, a 40-year-old Akron resident, took from the company $2,734.93 in cash and merchandise while employed there for the past year. The woman was charged with felony theft and transported to the Cuyahoga FallsMunicipal Court where she appeared in front of Judge Kim Hoover who released her on her own recognizance.

Breaking and entering

Keyboard taken. A resident of the 2400 block of State Road reported March 16 that someone entered her unlocked basement storage unit between 10 p.m. March 15 and 8:15 p.m. March 16 and stole a $40 computer keyboard but left other items of value. Police continue to investigate this open case.

Burglary

House entered. A Stow man reported at 1:27 p.m. March 17 that someone broke into his vacant house on 1700 Northampton Road between March 10 and 16 by prying the dead-bolt lock off the back door. Nothing was taken. Damage was estimated at $25. There are no suspects or leads.

Theft

Stolen info, checks. Cathedral Lane woman reported March 17 someone she knows used her information to obtain two prescriptions and took three checks to get $300. The police are investigating.

Electronics stolen. An Alameda Avenue man reported at March 16 someone broke into his Ford Ranger pickup between 10 p.m. March 15 and 5 a.m. March 16 while it was locked and parked in his driveway. A laptop, GPS and MP3 player were stolen, an estimated loss of $1,400. The victim wanted to prosecute. The case is under investigation.

Art theft. The owner of an art studio on Front Street reported someone stole four paintings valued at a total of $3,200 some time during the month of February while the business was open. There are no suspects or leads.

Assault

Fight at the Nat. A 12-year-old Stow boy reportedly assaulted another 12-year-old boy from Tallmadge at 3:15 p.m. March 16 at the Natatorium, punching him in the side of the face and giving him a bloody nose. The fight broke out after one boy slammed the other boy against a wall during a dodgeball game, police said. No medical treatment was required.

Jealous rage? A resident reported at 1:30 a.m. March 16 her ex-boyfriend choked her and hurt her wrist. She said he was upset because he thought she had another man in her apartment. She did not require medical treatment.

Kitchen fight. A Cuyahoga Falls woman, 22, was arrested and charged with assault at 12:09 a.m. March 16 after she tackled a woman in her Valley Road kitchen at 11:55 a.m. March 15 causing her to hurt her right hand. Reportedly, the two were drinking when one forcibly tried to make the other leave the premises. No medical treatment was required.

Prohibited weapon

Knife found. A 17-year-old Stow boy was arrested and charged with having a prohibitive weapon, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, at 3:10 p.m. March 17. During a traffic stop at Munroe Falls Avenue and Winter Parkway of a vehicle in which he was a passenger, the boy was found with a 3-inch lock-back knife without justification.

Drug Abuse

Joint found. During a traffic stop at 2:10 p.m. March 16 on West Portage Trail at Akron Peninsula Road, a 21-year-old Aurora man was cited for drug abuse when a suspectedmarijuana cigarette was found in his possession. He was also cited for driving under a suspended license and not wearing his seatbelt. Because the drug charge was a minor misdemeanor, he was released.

Drug paraphernalia

Pipe found. A 19-year-old Aurora man was arrested at 8:36 p.m. March 17 at Bailey Roadand Ridgecrest Drive and charged with having drug paraphernalia after a glass pipe with suspectedmarijuana residue was found on him during a traffic stop. He was initially pulled over for an improper turn at an intersection, for which he was also cited.

Forgery

Fake prescription. A Uniontown man was arrested at 2:30 p.m. March 15 after trying to fill a counterfeit prescription at a Bailey Road pharmacy. He was charged with forgery and deception to obtain dangerous drugs.
