Broadman Baptist Church

Broadman Baptist Church, 350 E. Bath Road, hosts the following programs and services:

On Sundays, fellowship takes place at 9:30 a.m., followed by Life Impact classes at 9:45 a.m., and worship service from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

On Wednesdays, there is a fellowship meal at 5:30 p.m., followed by worship and prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and discipleship from 7 to 8 p.m. (various age group classes).

Maundy Thursday will take place March 20 with a meal at 6:30 p.m., followed by a service of darkness at 7 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, March 23, at 8 a.m. there will be a sunrise service with a pot luck meal following. There will be another worship service at 11 a.m.

Andrea Clemens will be in concert at the church March 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Clemens began performing at an early age with her family. Her parents, Dennis and Diane Herris, and her three younger sisters, traveled as the Herris family, and shared the gospel of Jesus through song across the Eastern U.S. Clemens began writing her own music at age 10. She debuted her solo album entitled, "Undeniable Love," in May 2000. It features five original songs and six cover tracks in various musical styles. Since then she has written numerous songs for worship and performance and has included her children, parents, sisters, and friends in her performances over the years. She continues to sing for a variety of events at local churches and schools, banquets, retreats, and youth events.

Bring a Neighbor Day is March 30, with a worship service at 11 a.m. and a with pot luck meal following.

Redeemer Lutheran Church

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 Fifth St., celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus with the following Holy Week schedule. Maundy Thursday will be celebrated with a service of Holy Communion at 7 p.m. on March 20; Good Friday will be observed with a Tenebrae (Service of Darkness) Service at 7 p.m. on March 21. Resurrection morning, March 23, will be celebrated with a sunrise service at 7 a.m., along with the church's regular worship services at 8:45 (traditional) and 11:15 a.m. (contemporary). Sunday school and Adult Bible Hour will take place at 10 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. in the church basement. Menu includes eggs, bacon, hash browns, fruit, danish, juice and coffee. A free will offering will be taken and proceeds will benefit the Redeemer Youth Group. First Christian Church

First Christian Church, 2253 Third St., will host a special Good Friday service on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. Members of the church will enact a drama depicting events during the last week of Jesus' life.

The congregation will host a baked potato bar, before the service at 6 p.m. Those planning to attend should contact the church office for reservations.

Two services will take place Easter Sunday, March 23: Sunrise service at 8 a.m. and regular service at 10:45 a.m. Breakfast will be served in between the two services.

Services will take place Sundays at 10:45 a.m. Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Nursery care is provided.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, Cuyahoga Falls, is hosting Lenten programs and services.

There will be a Maundy Thursday service on March 20 at 7 p.m., with communion by intinction. The Rev. Dr. Joseph W. Atkins Jr. will be the pastor for that service.

Good Friday will be observed with an opportunity for quiet meditation in the sanctuary from 1 to 3 p.m. There will also be a meditation guide available.

Bailey Road Christian Church

The Bailey Road Christian Church, 3200 W. Bailey Road in Cuyahoga Falls, hosts Sunday School for classes of all ages at 9:30 a.m. and a 10:45 a.m. worship service.

The church also offers a "Just for Christ" event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Sundays which includes music, games, Bible study and snacks for pre-kindergarten aged children through the eighth grade.

A new contemporary worship service is also scheduled to take place on Sundays at 7 p.m.

On Tuesdays, Cub Scouts meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. On the first and third Tuesdays of every month, "Happy Hands" sewing and craft group meets at 12:30 p.m. at the church.

On Wednesdays, choir practice takes place at the church at 7:30 p.m.

On every other Thursday at 6:30 p.m. the Girl Scouts meet at the church.

The Christian Women's Fellowship meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls

Palm Sunday Services will take place at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. on March 16. There will be a procession of palms at both services and all choirs will be singing that morning. Sunday School meets from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. for all ages and child care for both services plus children's worship for grades K-6 at the 11 a.m. service.

On March 19 community members are invited to experience a presentation on Christ in the Passover at the church. This program will be led by Yoel Ben David from Jews for Jesus at 7 p.m. in Wesley Hall. At a table set with traditional Passover items, Ben David will share the lessons the Passover celebration can teach Christians about the Jewish roots of Christian faith and God's plan for salvation. Representative Passover foods will be explained, but not eaten, and ancient and modern Jewish customs will be shared as part of the program. A time of fellowship will conclude the evening. Although there is no cost to attend, a free will offering to support the work of Jews for Jesus will be taken. All are invited.

On Holy Thursday, March 20, the church has silent communion in the chapel from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A service will take place in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. that evening with prayer, singing of hymns, a message by Rev. Brown, Holy Communion and an anthem with a beautiful setting of Jesus in the Garden, "Thy Will Be Done" presented by the Chancel Choir. Child care provided.

Celebration of Easter will take place at the church with a service at 5 p.m. on March 22 and with three services on March 23 at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. There will be child care provided.

United Presbyterian Church

For Holy Week, United Presbyterian Church will celebrate Jesus' kingly entrance into Jerusalem on Palm/Passion Sunday, March 16. The Maundy Thursday Service, which commemorates the meal Jesus shared with His disciples, will be March 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. Jesus' power over death will be celebrated on the Sunday of the Resurrection, March 23. At each of these services the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated.

United Presbyterian offers two distinct styles of worship. The traditional service starts at 8:30 a.m. and the New Creation contemporary service starts at 11 a.m. The educational hour is between the two services beginning at 9:45 a.m. with small group ministry for all ages. Child care is available on Sunday morning. Parking is available on church property. All are welcome.

PrayerLab is scheduled for March 18. PrayerLab is an opportunity to pray and to be prayed for. Anyone can come to the church sanctuary any time between 7 and 8:30 p.m. This will also give participants a chance to engage in discussion about how to have an effective prayer life. The format is open, with no fixed agenda or liturgy, so as to be spirit-led.

On Good Friday, March 21, members and friends of the church are encouraged to participate in a Prayer Vigil, committing to at least 30 minutes any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Pilgrim United Church of Christ

The smell of pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee will be coming from Pilgrim United Church of Christ's social hall on March 22 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. This Lenten breakfast is open to everyone. Donations will be accepted for the breakfast. Pilgrim is located on the corner of Broad Boulevard and Second Street in downtown Cuyahoga Falls.

Palm Sunday will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary, March 16, with an Easter Pageant presented by the children. Pilgrim welcomes everyone for this and other Easter Events.

On March 20, Maundy Thursday will be observed with a dinner and worship service. This event begins at 6:30 p.m.

"A Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" will take place following the Pancake Breakfast March 22. This breakfast will begin at 10 a.m. and is for children from toddlers through Grade 5. Crafts, games, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and an age divided Easter Egg Hunt will be provided. Children may create their own Easter bonnet and wear it to the event to win a prize. Festivities will conclude at 11:30 a.m.

On Easter Sunday, March 23, Communion will be served during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Rev. Kirk Bruce's sermon will be "Taking the Risk of Dying."

John 20:1-18 will be the text for this message. Following the service, coffee and cake will be served in the social hall. Pilgrim welcomes all visitors to this and all other worship services.

Matthew 6:25-33, and Matthew 25:4-46 are the Biblical references for the children's Sunday School this month. Each Sunday morning at 9:30 the youths meet in "The Sacred Gathering Place" (Room 28) for singing, prayers, scripture reading, and lessons on the symbols and traditions of Lent. During this time adults may attend the discussion and Bible study group in the library or go to the Heritage Room for silent meditation and coffee. On March 30, a third alternative will be offered to the adults during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour. This third choice will be a book study. "Yes Lord I Have Sinned But I Have Excellent Excuses," by James Moore will be the first book discussed. Anyone interested in this group is asked to call the church at 330-928-4847.

Pilgrim also has two weekday Bible study groups. There is a Tuesday morning group that meets at 10:30 in the Pilgrim Library and a 7 p.m. Wednesday group that meets in Pilgrim's Heritage Room. Newcomers are always welcome.

Bethany United Church of Christ

Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., announces the following programs and services:

Sunday worship is 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Church school for children and adults is at 9:15 a.m. A spaghetti dinner to benefit breast cancer will take place at Bethany March 14 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. All are invited to come, eat and support this benefit. Women's Fellowship will meet March 17 at 7 p.m. Mary Seymour will share her faith and ministry. Attendees should park in the church school parking lot. The Men's Breakfast is a great time for men of the church to get together to share faith, food, and fellowship together; as well as a few chores with which the custodians could use some help. The men gather the third Wednesday of the month at 8 a.m. (Next breakfast is March 19.) The church will have a Maundy Thursday Communion service March 20 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome. During the month of March the Mission Committee will be supporting the Harvest for Hunger Canned Food Drive. Every Sunday in March we will collect canned and dry goods. Suggested canned and non-perishable items include foods you would fix for your Easter dinner and canned beef stew, tuna fish, peanut butter, cereal, vegetables and soup. Grandview United Methodist Church

During this Lenten season at Grandview United Methodist Church, 2315 Phelps Ave. Rev. James McKenzie has been presenting a series called "Beneath the Cross: Letters From a Good Friday World" during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship service.

This series concludes with Rev. McKenzie reading the letter from Judas during the Maundy Thursday service held on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. Holy Communion by intinction will be included. On Good Friday, March 21, the church sanctuary will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for quiet prayer and meditation on the "Seven Last Words."

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be March 22 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Games, crafts, and punch and cookies will be enjoyed after the eggs are found. In case of bad weather, the hunt will take place in the Fellowship Hall.

On Easter Sunday morning, March 23, at 7:30 a.m. there will be a sunrise service led by Guest Lay Speaker Simon Anderson. A continental breakfast will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The regular Easter Sunday morning service will be at 10:30 a.m. The sermon title is "Resurrection Run" by The Rev. McKenzie. Music selections by New Creation Singers, Jubilation Sound, Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir will be included.

The Church in Silver Lake

The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Road, is a spiritual wellness center. The church offers a weekly Bible study class each Thursday at 12:30. The church also provides "Lunch On Us" the first Saturday of each month beginning at 11:30 a.m. The weekly Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. The church invites community members to Holy Week and Easter Sunday services. The congregation will worship on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. with communion and a reenactment of the story of Jesus' Crucifixion. Prayer vigil to follow, from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. March 21. Easter Sunday services on March 23: Sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. in the sanctuary followed by an Easter Sunday breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in fellowship hall, and a 10:30 a.m. celebration service. Child care provided.

First United Methodist Church of Akron

The First United Methodist Church of Akron is having an Easter Pancake Breakfast Sunday March 23 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the social hall. There will be sausage, juice, coffee, tea and all the pancakes you care to eat. The cost is $5 for adults. Children 18 and under are free. University of Akron students are free with a current ID. Reservations can be made by calling 330-376-8143. Have breakfast and then come for Easter worship service at 11 a.m.
