Cuyahoga Falls -- Council Candidates for Wards 5 through 8 spent and received a varying range of funds, finance reports show.

According to campaign finance reports from the Summit County Board of Elections marking the period of Oct. 17 through Dec. 7:

* Ward 5 Incumbent winner Diana Colavecchio (D) did not receive or spend any money for the period, and has an onhand balance of $216.77. She received an in-kind contribution of $557.29 from the Cuyahoga Falls Democratic Club for media, and her report lists $8,084.49 in outstanding loans. Her opponent, Republican Bob Brown, spent approximately $564, with $500 of that going toward a loan repayment. He also received a $123.50 contribution from Flynn For Council/Rick Berdine. He has an onhand balance of $106.14.

* Ward 6 Council member Don Walters (D), who ran unopposed, reported bringing around $184 forward from the last report and received no contributions. Walters reported donating $30 a piece to The Committee to Elect Jerry James and The Committee to Elect Juanita Deptowicz. Walters reported loaning his campaign $1,200. He received an in-kind contribution of $557.29 from the Cuyahoga Falls Democratic Club for media, and has an onhand balance of $123.98.

* Ward 7 Council incumbent Jerry James (D), who won re-election, reported receiving a total of $430, all in contributions less than $25 and brought forward $642 from the last reporting period. James reported spending $1,082 to Triad Communications Inc. of Cuyahoga Falls for fundraiser tickets and palm cards. He received an in-kind contribution of $557.29 from the Cuyahoga Falls Democratic Club for media, and has an onhand balance of $2.34. His report lists $1,570 in outstanding loans.

James' opponent, Levia Goff, received a total of $100 in contributions, all from The Ruhlin Co. of Sharon Center and spent that entire amount on fliers. Her committee lists $254.69 in in-kind contributions from Goff.

* In the city's Ward 8 race, incumbent winner Terry Mader (R) received $3,450 in contributions for the period, with the majority of that coming from a $2,500 check from the Robart for Mayor Committee. Mader also received $500 from the Communication Workers of America, Ohio Legislative Action Committee and $400 from Thomas K. Meadows of Cuyahoga Falls.

Mader's largest expenditure was a total of $1,435 paid to Ad Graphics of Akron for brochures and printing services. He also spent around $680 for postage and mailing, and around $400 for a loan repayment. He has an onhand balance of $2,347.61.

Mader's opponent Jim Bouplon (D) reported receiving no contributions for the period and his carry-over of $590 from his last report was used as a payment on an outstanding loan. He received an in-kind contribution of $557.29 from the Cuyahoga Falls Democratic Club for media.
