Incumbent Betty Sutton (D) will not face a challenger in the March 4 primary for the 13th U.S. Congressional District seat. However, in November's general election, the Copley legislator will face one of three Republican hopefuls on pace for the primary. Frank Chestney of Brunswick, Frances L. Kalapodis of Clinton and David S. Potter of Strongsville have all filed to run in the primary. Sutton was elected in 2006 and succeeded current Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) in the post. She has served on Summit County Council as well as a Ohio House representative. District 13 includes most of the western and southern suburbs of Cleveland, and includes Akron, Lorain, Elyria and Cuyahoga Falls. The filing deadline for write-ins for the election was Jan. 2. Independent candidates have until 4 p.m. March 3 to file. Comments
