Bailey Road Christian Church Bailey Road Christian Church will host Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages. Worship service is at 10:45 a.m. Just For Christ is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. JFC is music, games, Bible study and snacks for children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Cub Scouts meet every Tuesday at the church at 6:30 p.m. The choir practices every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. On the first and third Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m., "Happy Hands (a sewing and crafts group) meets. Girl Scouts meet every other Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Christian Women's Fellowship meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The group is studying the book, "Bad Girls of the Bible" by Liz Curtis Higgs. The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Road, is a spiritual wellness center. The church offers a weekly Bible study class each Thursday at 12:30. The church also provides "Lunch On Us" the first Saturday of each month beginning at 11:30 a.m. The weekly Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. First United Methodist Church Mount Union College Choir will be performing at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, on Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. One of the nation's oldest choral ensembles, the 44-voice choir has performed concerts in China, India, Malaysia, Norway, Turkey and most recently, Ireland. The choir is led by Dr. Scott W. Dorsey, Director of Choral Activities at Mount Union and its repertoire spans 1,200 years of music history with something for virtually everyone from the sublime to the silly. All are invited to this evening of choral music. There will be child care available and a free will offering will be taken that evening. On Jan. 10, Going Strong, an organization for seniors and retirees, is having a program by Shawn Buckner of the Summit County Office of Consumer Affairs at 1 p.m. in Wesley Hall at the church. Buckner will speak about returns and refunds, gift card protection, stopping unsolicited telemarketing calls and mail, check overpayment scams, buying a used car, information protection, etc. For more information, call Robbie Robinson at 330-688-5982. United Presbyterian Church Pastor Ross Slaughter will continue with his series on modern day discipleship focusing on Advent Disciples. This week he will be highlighting the significance of Joseph, the earthly step-father of Jesus, drawing from Matthew 1 and 2 in a message entitled "Joseph -- Dreamer, Protector, Disciple." United Presbyterian offers two distinct styles of worship. The traditional service starts at 8:30 a.m. and the new creation contemporary service starts at 11 a.m. The educational hour is between the two services beginning at 9:45 a.m. with small group ministry for all ages. Childcare is available on Sunday morning. Parking is available on church property and everyone is welcome to attend. On Jan. 6 at 7 p.m., the church will present an all original musical drama enacting the story of the Epiphany, Comfort For An Aching World. Pilgrim United Church of Christ 2008 will be an active year for Pilgrim United Church of Christ, beginning with the Celebration of Epiphany on Jan. 6. The Rev. Kirk Bruce's message for the 10:30 a.m. worship service is entitled, "What is Epiphany and why do we celebrate it?" After the service there will be a pot luck lunch in the Social Hall. Those staying for lunch are asked to bring a vegetable or meat dish to share. Beverages and dessert will be provided. On Jan. 13, the Pilgrim Singles Group will meet in the social hall from 6 to 8 p.m. to make Hobo Stew and watch a movie. Those attending are asked to bring a canned vegetable to add to the stew and their own nonalcoholic beverage. The singles group meets the second Sunday of every month. Singles between the ages of 30 -65 are welcome to join. The group is nondenominational and has no dues. A free will offering will be taken to help defer the costs of food and paper products. On Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. the Women's Friendship Circle will meet in the social hall. The women may either make a Valentine gift or play games. Friendship circle meets the third Thursday of each month. New members are always welcome. Pilgrim UCC welcomes the community to participate in the many other activities and study groups that are available at the church. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. for all ages. Adults who prefer to have coffee and meditate individually during Sunday School may do so in the Heritage Room. First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls On Jan. 6 at 10:45 a.m. First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls will celebrate Epiphany Sunday with the visit of the Magi. It will be a service of drama, readings, music and communion to celebrate the journey of the Magi that unveiled the light of God to all the world.
