Bailey Road
Bailey Road Christian Church will host Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages. Worship service is at 10:45 a.m. Just For Christ is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. JFC is music, games, Bible study and snacks for children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Cub Scouts meet every Tuesday at the church at 6:30 p.m. The choir practices every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. On the first and third Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m., "Happy Hands (a sewing and crafts group) meets. Girl Scouts meet every other Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Christian Women's Fellowship meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The group is studying the book, "Bad Girls of the Bible" by Liz Curtis Higgs. St. Luke's Evangelical Church, 2121 Sixth St., Cuyahoga Falls, will host candlelight communion services at 7:30 and 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Special music will be presented before each service by Kathy Rupp and Ellen Wingate, church organists. The congregation will be invited to join the St. Luke's choir in singing the "Hallelujah Chorus" at the end of the 10 p.m. service. Sunday school will not take place Dec. 23 and Dec. 30. Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., announces the following programs and services: The Children's Sunday school presentation for all Youth and Adult Classes will be Dec. 23 at 9:15 a.m. in the social hall. The Legends of the Christmas Tree will be presented. Coffee and cookies provided. The Advent Season of preparation ends and the joyous season of Christmastide (the 12 days of Christmas) begins on Christmas Eve, with the proclamation of Christ's birth. In Christmastide, the church will offer several special services to help receive and celebrate God's gift to humanity in the Christ child. The family service is Dec. 24 at 7:30 p.m. and the traditional candlelight service will take place at 11 p.m. All are welcome. Christmas Eve at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls will include three services. The 6 p.m. service is geared toward families with small children and includes a short Christmas pageant as well as all the children's choirs singing and bell ringers. There are two festival candlelight services at 8 and 10 a.m. with hymn singing, choir music and bell ringing. There is babysitting at the 6 and 8 p.m. services. All are welcome to celebrate the birth of Christ with the congregation. Chapel Hill Church Chapel Hill Church, 1160 Howe Ave., will host a family-oriented Christmas Eve service Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. where the children's choir will sing and a message of hope will be given. Broadman Baptist Church Christmas Sunday Sermon Series is "Party Like A Rock Star!" Pastor Christ McCombs believes God can use anything for His glory. Pastor McCombs said he is going "to teach the church about a true party and a real Rock Star based on the Christmas Story." Pastor Ross Slaughter will continue with his series on modern day discipleship focusing on Advent Disciples. This week he will be highlighting the significance of Joseph, the earthly step-father of Jesus, drawing from Matthew 1 and 2 in a message entitled "Joseph -- Dreamer, Protector, Disciple." United Presbyterian offers two distinct styles of worship. The Traditional Service starts at 8:30 a.m. and the New Creation Contemporary Service starts at 11 a.m. The Educational Hour is between the two services beginning at 9:45 a.m. with small group ministry for all ages. Childcare is available on Sunday morning. Parking is available on church property and everyone is welcome to attend. The church is participating in Partners for Just Trade, selling handcrafted items from Peru as a mission project during the Christmas season. The money made will go directly to the artisans living in poverty in Peru. Items can be purchased Sunday, Dec. 23 from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. and from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. The church will host two Christmas Eve services. The 7 p.m. service will be contemporary and family oriented. The 11 p.m. service will be traditional in liturgy and music. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at both services and lighting of candles during the singing of "Silent Night, Holy Night" will conclude both services. Pilgrim United Church of Christ welcomes everyone to worship with them to celebrate the birth of Christ. On Dec. 23, residents are being asked to join Pilgrim at the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service in the Sanctuary for Rev. Kirk Bruce's Christmas Message and music provided by the Bell Choir. Afterwards, guests can enjoy Wassail and cookies in the social hall. Come meet and greet new and old friends. On Dec. 24, at 7:30 p.m., the Christmas Eve Worship service in the Sanctuary will take place. On Jan. 6, guests can join Pilgrim for the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service then stay for a Pot Luck Lunch to celebrate Epiphany. Pastor Bruce will be discussing "What is Epiphany and why do we celebrate it," during his morning message. Guests are asked to bring a vegetable, salad or meat dish to share. Northminster Presbyterian Church At the 10:30 a.m. service on Dec. 23, Northminster Presbyterian Church will be celebrating the fourth Sunday of Advent, and the children will be singing as part of the service. The candlelight Christmas Eve service will take place at 7:30 p.m. and will include a "Tableau of the Nativity" presented by the church's children. The church is located at 104 W. First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls The First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, located at 2253 Third St., worships Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve. The church's candlelight service will begin at 7 p.m. with a one-half hour musical prelude and the service of worship beginning at 7:30 p.m. The congregation will hear the story and sing the carols to welcome the birth of Jesus. On Dec. 30 at 10:45 a.m., the church will have a carol sing and share favorite Christmas gifts. This is an informal time focused on children. The congregation will also gather around the communion table to share the Lord's Supper. On Jan. 6 at 10:45 a.m. the church will celebrate Epiphany Sunday with the visit of the Magi. It will be a service of drama, readings, music and communion to celebrate the journey of the Magi that unveiled the light of God to all the world.
