Cuyahoga Falls — Under the blue skies of a pleasant spring day, city officials hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Monday to kickstart the removal of the Front Street pedestrian mall and re-open the road to vehicular traffic.
Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Walters addressed a crowd of dignitaries, community leaders, business owners and the public during the program along the downtown mall.
Unveiled along with the downtown plans was a new logo and brand for the area: “The rebirth of historic downtown Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.”
“The new brand is fashion forward and contemporary,” said John Harris, principal of a5 Branding and Digital. “The logo and brand will appeal to a wide variety of people-- families as well as Millennials.” a5 teamed with TRIAD of Cuyahoga Falls to develop the brand, which features the tagline "The Fun Flows Here,” according to a news release.
Zall Commercial Real Estate is spearheading the effort to recruit new retail stores for this section of the city. In conjunction with the re-opening of Front Street, the city will update the three on-site parking garages, which —with street parking — will provide more than 750 parking spaces.
“Weʼre confident this redevelopment will pull people off Route 8 and into downtown, draw families and young adults to this beautiful stretch along the Cuyahoga River and reinvigorate downtown,” added Walters. “This is the future of Downtown Cuyahoga Falls.”
