An Akron woman was sentenced to jail time in the death of a Cuyahoga Falls man whom she hit with her car last fall.
Angelique Santa, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree misdemeanor vehicular homicide and was sentenced Friday, Feb. 24, in Akron Municipal Court to 180 days in jail with 13 days credit and fined $1,074 in fines and court costs, according to the Akron Municipal Clerk of Court's Office.
The judge further ordered a five-year driver's license suspension until Feb. 24, 2022, 12 months of supervised probation with substance abuse and mental health treatment and screening for a community-based control facility.
Santa was arrested on Nov. 18, 2016, after police found her boyfriend, Thomas Holcomb, 41, of Cuyahoga Falls, lying unconscious on his back bleeding from his head in a driveway in the 800 block of Oakland Avenue in Akron at 1 a.m., according to the police report.
Mr. Holcomb was transported to Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m., according to Akron police.
