Cuyahoga Falls Library will join institutions around the country in celebrating its Friends of the Library group as part of the 11th annual National Friends of Libraries Week, Oct. 16 to 22.
Hundreds of community members contribute to the Friends, many actively volunteering their time to assist the group with annual books sales in May and November, according to a library news release.
"Our library benefits significantly from the dedicated work of our Friends," said library director Valerie Kocin. "The funds they raise put the icing on the cake. I think most patrons would be surprised to learn how many of the services and programs they enjoy are supported by the Friends."
The community can support the Friends book sales by donating gently used books, CDs and DVDs. The Friends will not accept VHS tapes, records, cassettes, newspapers, encyclopedias, magazines and any books that are incomplete, moldy, smelly or torn.
The next Friends book sale is scheduled for Nov. 3, 4 and 5.
