The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department has been awarded a traffic safety grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

This $38,813 grant will cover overtime costs for officers to enforce impaired and aggressive driving violations, according to a city news release.

"We are grateful to have been chosen for the second year in a row to receive the Traffic Safety grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety," stated Chief of Police Jack Davis. "The grant dollars help us as we continue to strive to eliminate crashes that lead to severe injuries and fatalities in our community."

"I am incredibly proud of Chief Davis and the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department for continuing to research and find alternative funding sources to increase services to our community," said Mayor Don Walters. "Visible traffic enforcement, besides reducing traffic crashes, also can serve as a deterrent for individuals who may be inclined to commit other crimes."
