Join local residents for a candlelight vigil and opiate awareness event. The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, at Falls River Square Amphitheater. Several local groups will be on hand to assist individuals and families who have been impacted by this public health crisis.

The moderator will be Cindy Tate of Ohio CAN (Change Addiction Now). Speakers will include Stow Municipal Court Judge Lisa Coates; Cuyahoga Falls firefighter/paramedic Charlie Kilbel; Cuyahoga Falls Police Chief Jack Davis; Melissa Brown of the Cleveland Clinic; Judy Caldwell of Naranon; Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce director Laura Petrella; Brenda Cameron Ryan, a city resident impacted by the epidemic; and Johnny Sczesniak, a recovering addict.
Organizations involved in the event include the Summit County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board; Western Reserve Hospital; Ohio CAN; Oriana House; Summit Psych; Cuyahoga Falls Rotary Club; the Haven of Rest; and the Summit County Board of Health. D & L Collectables will be raising money for the "Not Me, I'm Drug Free" program for students.
