Applications are now available for the city of Cuyahoga Falls residents who are interested in the Senior Snow Program, according to Mayor Don Walters.

Applications may be obtained by visiting www.cityofcf.com/seniorsnow, or by contacting CDBG/Entitlement Administrator Kelli Crawford-Smith at 330-971-8140 or Crawford-Smith@cityofcf.com. Also, for those needing assistance with paperwork, a clinic will take place Sept. 9 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Erie Room of the Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St. The deadline for applications is Oct. 31 at 4 p.m.

"I am proud to continue the Senior Snow Removal Program for residents that are most in need during the winter months," stated Walters. "The program is designed to help residents get out of their homes for necessities such as prescriptions or medical appointments."

The program is open to owner-occupied residents of the city who are 65 or older and/or disabled, income qualify and have no other persons living in the home who can remove the snow. Driveways must be concrete or asphalt. The program is limited to driveways only. Contractors will not provide salt.

To income qualify, residents must submit the following HUD-required documentation:

/ Current pay stubs for all those working in the household older than 18 years of age. (two months' worth)

/ Checking, Savings, Certificate of Deposit, Assets, and Investments, etc. statements. (three months' worth)

/ If self employed - provide the most recent income tax returns (three years)

/ If applicable, provide a letter from a physician documenting one's disability.

Seniors should apply ahead of the snow season as applications must be received, reviewed and approved before being accepted into the program. Funds are limited and once the funds are expended the program will be discontinued.
