Silver Lake Council OKs renewal of trash contract; fees will rise in 2014 and 2015

Silver Lake residents will see their trash collection fees rise in 2014 and 2015 under a contract renewed by Village Council Monday, March 4.

Village Council voted 5-0 to renew its trash removal contract with J&J Refuse, which recently became known as Kimble Recycling and Disposal Inc. The renewal will go into effect April for a three-year period ending March 31, 2016.

Under the contract, Village Clerk-Treasurer Sean M. Housley, CPA, said there will be no fee increase in 2013, a 1.98 percent increase in 2014 and a 2.02 percent increase in 2015.

Council Vice President Carol Steiner (District B) and Councilmember Richard Hite (At Large) were absent from Monday’s meeting.
