Cellist David Alan Harrell and trombone player Shachar Israel, both from The Cleveland Orchestra, performed for guests at the Aug. 3 Gourmet Matinee at Blossom Music Center.
The summer Gourmet Matinees are held in the Knight Grove Pavilion and are sponsored by the Blossom Friends of The Cleveland Orchestra. The proceeds benefit the wonderful Cleveland Orchestra at its summer home, Blossom Music Center.
The Gourmet Matinees provide an informal afternoon of lunch with wine and listening to music performed by musicians from The Cleveland Orchestra. This is an opportunity to interact with the musicians and get to know them in the question and answer period following their performance.
Harrell and Israel said they are known as the Quantum Duo. The name, according to the musicians, came about because normally one does not hear duets with cello and trombone but due to the energy coming together with these musicians playing composers such as Bach and Beethoven, it is quite the quantum jump of energy from one to the other. Harrell and Israel also had the audience participate by trying to match the composers to the pieces they were playing.
The third and final Gourmet Matinee is Sept. 1, with a solo trumpet performance by Cleveland Orchestra musician, Michael Miller. Contact Nancy Cruikshank at 440-354-8603 for information and ticket availability.
