The park district's new chief of human resources and administration is back in the Metro Parks where he grew up.
Alex Daw joined the leadership team of Summit Metro Parks last month after an extensive search. He is a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and The University of Akron, where he studied communications.
Daw, 34, previously worked for Target Corporation for 11 years, including time in Connecticut and New York. He and his wife Emily moved back to Ohio last year after the high-school sweethearts welcomed their first child, a son.
"We're excited to be back in Summit County to grow our family roots," Daw said. "I grew up going to Gorge Metro Park and Cascade Valley Metro Park, so I'm really looking forward to working on behalf of this community."
Daw said he is proud of his past efforts to engage employees and promote a fair and consistent culture, and he will bring the same to Summit Metro Parks.
His favorite trail is Oxbow in Akron's Cascade Valley.
The park district's former chief of HR, Stow resident Loretta Bowers, retired in May.
Summit Metro Parks has 155 full-time and part-time employees, plus dozens of seasonal workers every year.
