Village hydrant flushing program continues
Mark Lipan, Service Director for the Village of Silver Lake, announces fire hydrant flushing is underway and will run approximately one more week until all hydrants are flushed and inspected. This program is conducted once a year and serves to remove sediment and iron deposits from the water mains, according to a village news release.
The working condition of the hydrants are also inspected to ensure the best possible fire protection for the village. Residents should check their water before using. The flushing process may temporarily discolor the water. While it is safe for drinking, the discoloration may affect laundry.
