1 LEARN SOME HISTORY:
Learn about the history of the Gorge Metro Park Dam in a free program at the Cuyahoga Falls Library on April 19 at 7 p.m.
With the dam being studied for removal, Elaine Marsh, watershed specialist with Summit Metro Parks, will explain the interwoven story of the city, the dam, the Cuyahoga River, and Gorge Metro Park. The library is located at 2015 Third St.
2 WATCH KAYAKERS WRESTLE THE RAPIDS :
Whitewater kayakers will again flood into downtown Cuyahoga Falls to compete in the 2nd Annual Cuyahoga Falls Kayak Race April 22 at 1 p.m. The course will start at the put-in and spectator area below the Portage Trail Bridge. The course will end at Anchor Rock just after the Weeping Cliff rapids below the High Bridge Glens viewing area. Only experienced whitewater kayakers with the appropriate paddling gear will be permitted to register. Boaters can register the day of the race or online at http://www.cfkayakrace.com. Volunteers interested in helping can register to volunteer at http://www.cfkayakrace.com.
3 TAKE A RIDE TO HELP THE YMCA:
The Riverfront YMCA will host its annual event, Pedal with a Purpose, on April 22 from 9 a.m .to 1 p.m. Participants ride in half-hour increments on the stationary bicycles in the cycling room.
All proceeds benefit the Annual Campaign, the YMCA's scholarship program. There will be fun activities for the whole family as well as silent auction gift baskets. Call the Riverfront YMCA at 330-923-9622 for more information. The YMCA is located at 544 Broad Blvd.
