Hearing loss group meets Sept. 26

Sept. 26, 6:30 p.m.: The University of Akron's Speech Department offers a free monthly support group for adults with hearing loss and their families. This month's guest speaker is Carrie Spangler, a certified audiologist who also lives with a hearing loss.

Fair Housing


Sept. 27, 1:30 p.m.: Vince Curry of Fair Housing Advocates Association will offer a free public workshop on landlord and tenant issues.


Sept. 27, 6:30 p.m.: Ages 5 to 12 are invited to become master builders. Arrive 15 minutes early to reserve your seat. Limited to 25.

Job Club

Sept. 27, 7 p.m.: Get tips on job searches, resumes, interviews and more. Network with other local job seekers in a friendly and supportive environment.

Introduction to Medicare slated

Sept. 28, 4 p.m.: The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program is for people who are new to Medicare or who are already on Medicare but don't understand their options. individual Medicare specialist John Avon of Aetna will review enrollment periods, understanding rules and penalties, and Part D, including the "donut hole." He will also cover Medicare Advantage vs. Medicare supplements. Free.

Depression/Bipolar Support Alliance

Sept. 28, 6:30 p.m.: Depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating illnesses, but the DBSA support group can help you connect with others who have been there as well. Meetings are free and open to the public.

Akron Coffee

Roasters visit

Sept. 28, 7 p.m.: Akron Coffee Roasters selects specialty coffee, sourced from individual farms and mills, and roasts beans in a way that highlights the unique qualities of each coffee. Learn how Akron's newest roasters select and roast their beans, and sample their offerings. Free.

Get Crafty: Fall

Banner Sept. 29

Sept. 29, 6:30 p.m.: Local craft instructor Nanette Wroe will provide materials and instruction for creating a seasonal fall banner. Suitable for teens and adults. Register in person, online, or by calling 330-928-2117. Free.


The library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
