Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, in partnership with the city of Cuyahoga Falls and Mayor Don Walters, has launched "A Brush With Kindness" (ABWK) Exterior Home Repair Program specific to residents of Cuyahoga Falls.

Habitat for Humanity of Summit County's ABWK Exterior Home Repair Program, in partnership with the city of Cuyahoga Falls, ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes. The program is designed to revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, encourage connections within the community and most importantly, help preserve affordable housing stock.

"I am proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to bring A Brush with Kindness to the City of Cuyahoga Falls," stated Walters. "Our residents will greatly benefit from this exterior home repair program that will help our efforts to revitalize our neighborhoods further."

ABWK was initiated by the Summit County affiliate in 2010 and has since then completed 50 projects ranging from installing exterior ramps, windows, doors, siding, gutters, landscaping and painting the exterior of homes.

"Habitat for Humanity's holistic approach to neighborhood revitalization includes exterior home repair, especially in neighborhoods where we are building new construction homes as a way to create a sense of community and helping to raise home values and build the economic base of the areas we work in throughout Summit County," said Rochelle Sibbio, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Summit County.

To be considered for a home repair, individuals and families must be willing to complete a certain number of "sweat-equity" hours. These hours can be completed by helping repair their own home and the homes of others, and may include cleaning the lot, painting, helping with construction, working in the Habitat office, attending educational classes or other approved activities. Including sweat equity hours into the program actively involves the applicants in the repair process, helping them get the most out of the program.

Applications for the Cuyahoga Falls ABWK Exterior Home Repair Program can be picked up at the Habitat for Humanity of Summit County Offices at 2301 Romig Road in Akron or in the City of Cuyahoga Falls Development Department at 2310 Second St. in Cuyahoga Falls or online at www.cityofcf.com or www.hfhsummitcounty.org.
