New - monthly card making

Every month you can create five different cards. Supplies included. All participants need to bring is their scissors and some adhesives.

September class is scheduled for Sept. 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. Cards are on display at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave., where the class takes place. Pre-registration is required with a fee. A class fee is payable to instructor at time of registration (includes all supplies).

Adults who want to try something new but a shorter class - this is for you.

Participants can finish a project in just two nights and see if they like this art class.

Get ready for fall with a choice of pumpkins: plain, face, tall, short or whatever fits their dcor. Class takes place on Thursdays, Sept. 15 and 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center. There is a registration fee which covers the bisque, instruction, glazes, and firing. Pre- registration required to determine for class to begin. Project on display.

Lessons offered - new session

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering the following ballroom dance lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center.

All classes are taught in a progressive format, each series covering one dance for four weeks. To see what dances are being taught that session go to www.dancerinyou.com. Singles and couples are welcome, ages teen-adult. Pay at the door, no pre-registering needed. New session begins Thursday, Sept. 8 through Oct. 6 (no class on Sept. 22).

Beginner Ballroom- Will get participants up and dancing the basics of dances, like Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, Rumba and more. Have fun, get some exercise and be ready for social functions that include dancing. 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.

Intermediate Ballroom-This class will expand participants' repertoire and technical level on a wide variety of Ballroom, Latin and Swing dances. Dance with confidence and get noticed on the dance floor. 7:15 to 8 p.m.

Intermediate Argentine Tango- This class will expand participants' repertoire of the most beautiful and passionate dance in the world. This is the original Tango, from Buenos Aires, and seen in the movies. 8 to 8:45 p.m.

Adult coed power volleyball open gym

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Thursday night Adult Coed Power Volleyball Open Gym at Roberts Middle School from 7 to 10 p.m.

This supervised open gym will be every Thursday night at Roberts Middle School beginning Sept. 8 and running through Dec. 15 (no gym on Nov. 24). This open gym is designated for A Level power players.

Sunday Funday

Ballroom Dance

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Sunday Open Dance at the Quirk Cultural Center.

Looking for a chance to socialize with friends, meet new friends, and enjoy great music while trying out dance moves? Then come to the Sunday Funday Ballroom Dance. Each evening will start with a dance lesson from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Then from 5:30 to 8 p.m. enjoy dancing to music for Latin, Swing, Ballroom, Tango and more. Participants may bring their own snacks or beverages. This event will take place Sept. 11. Singles and couples welcome. Pay at the door.

Jewelry making classes

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering jewelry making classes at the Quirk Cultural Center. All materials will be provided. Participants should bring a desk lamp if they have one.

/ Starburst Earrings-All level project

Participants will learn how to use beads to create the shape of a diamond, follow the bead path and connect with other beads to make them look stunning.

Class 331307 3A is Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Class 331307 3B is Dec. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.

/ Black Romance Necklace-All level project

Very versatile, elegant necklace, which is also a bracelet. Come and enjoy with the group to create this masterpiece together. Participants will learn how to use this chain stitch to develop this necklace.

Class 331307 4A is Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. Class 331307 4B is Oct. 17 and 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. Class 331307 4C is Jan. 21 and 28 from 1 to 3 p.m.

/ Dew Shine Christmas Earrings-Beginner project

Participants will learn how to use right angle weave and peyote stitch techniques and will leave with a completely handmade set of earrings. Class 331307 1A is Oct. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Class 331307 1B is Dec. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m.

/ Angel Light Christmas Bracelet-Beginner project

The holidays are here. Come and join the group to learn how to use two needles to stitch and embellish.

Class 331307 2A is Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Class 331307 2B is Nov. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.
