Youth pottery

classes

All ages of youth love to work with clay. Starting with 6 to 8 year-olds, who we call the Mudcakes will have a clay class on Tuesdays from 4 to 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 6, 13 and 20.

Then Get the Wheel Started is for ages 9 - 17 and they will experiment with hand built pottery forms and explore embellishment and glazing techniques to create pottery and sculpture pieces. As the student gains experience with hand built creations, they will move to learning the wheel. Class is on Saturdays, Sept. 10, 17, and 24. Ages 9 to 11 meet from 10 to 11:45 a.m. while ages 12 to 17 meet from noon to 2 p.m. There is a fee for class and pre-registration is needed.

Woodshop

orientation

A woodshop orientation class will take place at Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave., Sept. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m.

A participant will learn the usage and safety of each machine which includes saws, routers, and a press. There is a small class fee paid the night of class. After the orientation class is completed participants may work independently in the workshop by purchasing a user card and is good for five visits. Or they can sign up for a three-week class on Wednesdays scheduled with the instructor. Supplies are student's responsibility according to project.

Cake decorating

Learn how to decorate the Wilton Way. The first session is building Buttercream Skills. Participants will ice and decorate a cake, pipe lines and simple border, letters, make 6 flowers and transfer images, make icing and use a decorating bag. Book and limited supply kit included in the class fee payable to instructor. Class times are Saturdays, Sept. 3 through 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. or Tuesdays, Sept. 6 through 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.

classes -

new session

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering Adult Ballet lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center.

The classes will consist of traditional ballet barre, stretching exercises and mild ballet center floor combinations. All classes are four-week sessions with new Tuesday sessions beginning Sept. 6 through 27 and Thursday sessions beginning Sept. 8 through 29. Tuesday classes are Intermediate, 9 to 10:15 a.m., Intermediate 6 to 7 p.m., and Beginner 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday class is Beginner/Intermediate from 9 to 10 a.m. All class fees must be paid at first class.

New - Creative

projects

Participants can create and put together their own scrapbook of vacation, kids, holidays or anything they want.

The scrapbook and all the frills are included. All you need to bring is your photos, scissors and some adhesives.

Class is scheduled for Wednesdays, Sept. 7 through Oct. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. One time a week and you will have a finished scrapbook to take home. Sample on display at the Quirk Cultural Center where the class takes place.

Pre - registration is required with a fee. A class fee is payable to instructor at time of registration (includes all supplies).
