COCAINE POSSESSION

Powder tests positive: A 43-year-old Akron man was charged Jan. 30 with possession of cocaine, a felony, after a white powder found in a plastic bag he dropped in a police cruiser last summer tested positive for the drug. The Akron man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Aug. 24, 2016, while he was on a property in the 700 block of Falls Avenue. On Jan. 23, the results from BCI showed the white powdery substance tested positive for cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance, the report said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

THEFT, ASSAULT, VIOLATINGPROTECTION ORDER

Teen in trouble: A 17-year-old Akron boy was arrested and charged with assault, theft and violation of a protective order after his ex-girlfriend, a 19-year-old Falls woman, reported he entered her apartment, argued with her, broke her phone and assaulted her, according to the report. The woman's account alleges the boy punched her several times in the face and threw her to the ground, tearing her sweatshirt, then took her keys and stole her car, all while allegedly in violation of a protection order.

 

DRUG POSSESSION

Akron man charged: A 50-year-old Akron man was and arrested and charged drug possession after a powdered substance found in his possession while in the care of emergency room staff at Western Reserve Hospital on Oct. 14, 2016, tested positive for heroin and fentanyl, a fifth-degree felony, according to the police report.

BURGLARY

TV taken: A resident of the 1300 block of Bailey Road reported someone kicked in the door of her apartment and stole her television between 9:40 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Jan. 27. The estimated damage and loss is $750.

 

Intruder flees: A resident of the 4200 block of Americana Way reported someone opened the door to her apartment at 10 a.m. Jan. 24 and left when she woke up. No force was used, the report said. There are no leads or suspects.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Daughter charged: A 35-year-old Falls woman was charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence after her father reported she kicked him in the groin during a dispute at their home at 10:46 a.m. Jan. 25. Police were called back to their house later that day at 5:48 p.m. when she reported people she knows refused to hand over her daughter's property valued at $1,300. She was referred to the prosecutor.

 

Son charged: A 25-year-old Falls man was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Jan. 24 after his father reported he charged at him and punched him in the face several times during an argument in their home at 4:40 p.m. The father had several marks on his face. He declined medical attention. The victim's wife filled out a domestic violence packet. The couple declined prosecution. A complaint was signed on their behalf by the reporting officer.

Menacing/Internet harassment

Photos posted: A village woman reported on Jan. 25 that an Akron man posted inappropriate photos of her on Facebook. The case is under investigation.

Fraud

Scam reported: A village woman reported receiving a phone call from an 866 number on Jan. 18 at 11:30 a.m. saying that her nephew was in jail and that she needed to pay for his release through pre-paid cards from a retail business. The woman said she bought three cards valued at a total of $4,500 from the business. She said she received a call back from the same number at 3:30 p.m. the same day and noted the caller requested the numbers on the cards she purchased. The woman said she provided that information to the caller. According to the report, she discovered this was a fraud and when she checked with the business, she discovered the accounts were empty. There are no leads or suspects. The case is under investigation.
