City's Arbor Day program is April 28

The city of Cuyahoga Falls will celebrate National Arbor Day with the annual program on April 28 at 4 p.m., at the Cuyahoga Falls Arboretum within Kennedy Park. The entrance is at 2028 Munroe Falls Ave. across from Water Works Aquatic Center.The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Each year, the city plants a tree to recognize an individual or organization of Cuyahoga Falls that has made a significant impact on the community. This year, the city will honor Western Reserve Hospital.

Along with the program, the city selects one of the schools to participate in an Arbor Day Contest. The 3rd and 4th grade classes at Redeemer Christian School have been chosen this year to create a poster art project following the theme"Healthy Trees, Healthy Lives" as the city recognizes the importance of trees in the community and the many ways they help people and improve the environment, according to a city news release. The art projects are judged by the Tree Board m embers who award one Grand Prize winner and five Honorable Mention winners. Mayor Don Walters will read a proclamation and hand out prizes to the winners at the ceremony.
